Director of Social Media Strategy Hub

The Social Media Strategy Hub Director will provide high-level direction and strategy for the Social Media Strategy Hub with University Communications, a centralized resource to provide social media monitoring, data analysis and interpretation, crisis and issue management. This Hub specializes in the development of collaborative communications and marketing initiatives.

University Communications is the central marketing and communications arm for university marketing and communication initiatives. This unit works with high level university offices to develop effective communications and marketing strategies and collateral to support central University efforts as well as many of the 12 colleges on campus. As a sub-unit of University Communications, the Social Media strategy Hub is responsible for bringing an integrated approach to developing and implementing strategic approaches to managing the university’s social media presence.

College of Design

Director of Communications and Marketing

The Director of Communications and Marketing reports to the Executive Director of Development and External Relations (DER) in the College of Design. They lead strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that supports the College vision to be the leading public, interdisciplinary design program.

The Director needs to be collaborative, innovative, responsive to input, and dedicated to excellence in all print communications, digital communications, web communications, media and public relations. They develop, facilitate, and implement the brand strategy that strengthens the College, grows philanthropic support, and enhances the institution’s visibility and recognition. They manage production of all communications. The Director serves as the point of contact for outside media, University News Services, and departmental/unit faculty and staff for all communications. They practice the highest ethical standards, team spirit, and openness to critical conversations.

The Director creates the strategic communications plan for the College of Design and defines important goals and objectives. They establish set priorities, meet deadlines, analyze data and create reports to assess the effectiveness of their services. They must be proficient with software technology required to create materials such as magazines, newsletters, and marketing pieces that are distributed to broad audiences.

The Director is also the Chief Communications Officer for the Dean and creates presentations, designs of donor materials, and prepares annual report materials. The Dean relies on the Director to develop messages for both internal and external audiences.
