Bio

Dr. Warwick Arden was appointed provost and executive vice chancellor in December 2010 after serving as interim provost since May 2009. Arden also served as interim senior vice president for academic affairs for the University of North Carolina System from July 2014 to February 2015 concurrently with his role as provost. Before becoming provost, Arden had been dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine since 2004.

Arden has extensive experience in veterinary surgery, having served as department head and professor for the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; associate professor of surgery and physiology, and director of the Surgical Research Program, at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine; and assistant professor of surgery at both the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He has led an NIH-funded vascular biology research program and has published more than 100 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters.
